At Wigan & Leigh Hospice patients and those people closest to them can access a wide range of support. None of this is possible without the support of local people.
The team have specialist knowledge and skills in palliative care and support patients at an advanced stage of their illness. They provide advice and support by telephone, in clinics and offer home visits when patients are unable to attend clinics. Many of the team are Nurse Independent Prescribers meaning that patients can get rapid access to the medications they require.
Our Hospice in Your Home service is provided by a team of Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Volunteers. The team offers one-to-one time with patients and gives practical as well as emotional support alongside hands-on nursing care, including daytime visits and occasional overnight stays.
Our inpatient unit at the hospice in Hindley has 14 individual patient bedrooms. We admit around 250 patients every year to manage their symptoms, give emotional support or for end of life care.
